Arthritis Treatment
Arthritis Treatment with Class IV Laser Therapy is a safe and conservative way to treat arthritis. High Power Laser Therapy can help reduce swelling, reduce pain, reduce inflammation, and reduce muscle spasm in the affected joint area. In addition to Class IV Laser Therapy other safe and effective techniques can be utilized. If the patient is suffering from arthritis of the lower extremities, the patient’s gait (the way a patient walks) should be looked at. If your shoes are wearing abnormally it is a very good sign that your gait is off. Custom foot orthotics can help to correct adherent biomechanical foot motion and put the patient in a more neutral position to limit excessive joint stress which may be aggravating their arthritis. In addition muscle imbalances should also be looked at in the affected region of the body, back, upper or lower extremities. Deep tissue work (Myofascial Release and ART/Active Release Technique) can be used to correct tight muscles and imbalances that may be creating abnormal stress to the joint. Stretching and conservative strengthening of the muscles around the affected joint is critical. Biomechanics and Activities of Daily Living should also be looked at (bed, chair, shoes, do they walk on slanted terrain (beach), work station, car seat position, sports, job duties, postural habits, etc.) to make sure they are not overusing one side of their body or using poor posture that may be contributing to their problem.
