Plantar Fasciitis Treatment – Orange County, CA
Plantar fasciitis (arch pain) is an overuse injury. With Plantar fasciitis the flat band of connective tissue that connects your heel bone to your toes gets over stretched repeatedly over time. Its job is to support the arch of your foot and provide shock. As we get older our arch starts to drop and our feet get bigger but unfortunately our arch does not get bigger so more tension is place on the arch. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets inflamed, swollen, irritated and can be quite painful. This often is the result of too much time on your feet, drastic increase in running or training, flat feet, over pronation, fallen arches, being on your feet all day or improper foot support.
Class IV High Power Laser Therapy can speed up plantar fasciitis treatment and help to relieve pain, swelling, inflammation and break down adhesions. Combined with ice baths, reduction in training, proper shoes and custom made foot orthotics that actually support the arch we can tailor a plan that is right for you and your activity. All too often I have patients that come in and when we take their old orthotics out of their shoes and have them stand on them there is gap between their arch and the device, which will never help them and their arch pain. A good aggressive arch in the orthotic giving proper support is critical in diminishing the overstretching of the plantar fascia and give the feet a chance to heal. Just because you have new custom orthotics does not mean they are right for your feet.
